I got a card from my mom this weekend (I love mail!) with a wonderful piece of encouragement. As many of you may know, I have decided not to return to work this year so I can stay home with Lyla. While I know in my heart that this is the greatest job I will ever hold, I am still having to adjust to the fact that I am not contributing to my family financially. It is very easy to get yourself down in a lot of ways when you are at home ALL day, but the Lord is really showing me daily how incredible this role really is. It is the best job in the world, but can also be the toughest. God is showing me that I should never be deceived into thinking that what I am doing isn't important. It is so easy to get discouraged and bogged down in the everyday routine, but God notices and will not return our efforts for void.
I heard a song by Steven Curtis Chapman the other day when I got in the car for a 1 minute drive up to the church and it was like God was speaking directly into my heart for that one minute:
"You’re picking up toys on the living room floor
for the 15th time today
Matching up socks and sweeping up lost
Cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip and color on your lips
and head out the door
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you
Matching up socks and sweeping up lost
Cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip and color on your lips
and head out the door
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you
Do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do
Maybe you’re that guy with the suit and tie
Maybe your shirt says your name
You may be hooking up mergers, cooking up burgers
But at the end of the day
Maybe your shirt says your name
You may be hooking up mergers, cooking up burgers
But at the end of the day
Little stuff big stuff in between stuff
God sees it all the same
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you do
God sees it all the same
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you
To do every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace with every move that you make
And every little thing that you do
Cause He made you
To do every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace with every move that you make
And every little thing that you do
Well maybe you’re sitting in math class
Maybe anekatips on a mission in the Congo
Maybe you’re working at the office
Singing along with the radio
Maybe you’re dining at a five star
Or feeding orphans in Myanmar
Anywhere and everywhere you are
Whatever you do it all matters
So do what you do and don’t ever forget
to do
Maybe anekatips on a mission in the Congo
Maybe you’re working at the office
Singing along with the radio
Maybe you’re dining at a five star

Jenny!!! i did not know you were staying home! what a blessing! I read in a bible study once (Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed - awesome study if you've never done it!) the following quote and it has really resonated with me: "Mothering is not the ultimate goal of being a mom, revealing Christ to the children is."
ReplyDeleteisn't that awesome?!?! and so true. here's another thing for you to read (in all your spare time - ha!) that will really encourage you - especially on those monotonous days....
it is an article called, "motherhood as a mission field" - awesome!
