This past weekend I got to travel home (with the help of my wonderful Aunt Vickie and Mom and Dad) to celebrate precious Lyla. The weekend was just perfect! I woke up Saturday morning to my mom asking to spend just a few minutes just the two of us. Little did I know, she had been working on a very special gift for Lyla ever since we found out she was a girl. We went outside to rock on the porch and she gave me a book called "Why a daughter needs a mother". She had written a very special note to both of us in there. As if that weren't enough to start the water works, she then presented me with a pink blanket that she had knitted. First of all, my mom has JUST started this new hobby of knitting and I was more than impressed at how amazing this little blanket looked. Second of all, my parents always talk about bringing ME home from the hospital in a pink blanket. My mom said that now the legacy can live on. I couldnt control the tears and emotions. It was such a special gift and such a special moment with my mom. We took some pictures, but both of us were crying so much, I decided not to post them..haha.
After a while, it was time for the shower. I was so overwhelmed at how many of my dearest friends and family came to celebrate this new life. We had such a great time and Lyla got sooooo many things. We got a lot of our big stuff-car seats, high chair, bouncey, and of course the stroller.
When we got married, Jeff so desperately wanted a flat screen tv. Now that we are having a baby, he has wanted nothing but this stroller. It is pretty awesome-I'm not going to lie. It is a jogging stroller and even has a place where we can plug in our iphones and listen to music through the speakers near the handle. Haha.
I cannot thank everyone enough for loving on us during this time! I love you all so much!!!
ps. I just had to share this picture. Our moms were pregnant with us at the same time and took this exact same picture...so fun to be pregnant together (both of us having little girls...maybe they will follow in our footsteps!)
