My dog has feelings

Anyone who says dogs don't have feelings obviously has never seen my bank account! Yesterday we found blood in Diggs' stool, so this morning I took him to the vet. After doing a few tests, they ruled out parasites and worms (whew!) and asked if he has experienced anything traumatic lately! HA! He's ONLY had his home invaded by a baby (a GIRL none the less) and has to be put up every time company comes over. We've noticed a few odd behaviors-like he's not eating as much and he hides under the bed come bedtime instead of cuddling up with us in our bed (which is what we used to do), but I had no idea that he's been so stressed-which is exactly what the doctor diagnosed-a stressed colon!

Let me remind you that this is not the first time we have spent money on our dog's feelings. Diggs used to throw up anytime Jeff left town for a few days, which made it hard last summer because Jeff was gone quite often due to summer camps and mission trips. Imagine my surprise when I take him to the vet only to learn that my dog is having "feelings" due to his daddy leaving him.

Of course, we will always spend the money (to a certain extent) to find out what is wrong with our pup-it's just amusing that he is so emotional...guess he gets it from his mom!:)

Feel better Diggs!

1 month

Lyla, today you are 1 month old. I can hardly believe how fast time is flying. We are so crazy about you and it is hard to remember life before you. You are the best baby!!

At one month old:

You love to make funny faces!

You love to ride in the car and usually sleep the entire time!

You have many different sleeping positions (all of them make me laugh!)

But, your favorite sleeping position is snuggling with mommy in the afternoons...

...And sleeping in your swing at night

You Love Love Love your Daddy! (Diggs is very protective of you too-wherever you are, He is there)

Everyone is always amazing at how alert you are and have been since you first popped out! You have the most beautiful dark blue eyes!

You are such a social butterfly and already have LOTS of friends! (these are just a few!)

But your best friends (aside from mommy and daddy) are your grandparents-who love you so much!
Gammie and Papa

GiGi

Papa G and Chella

You love to be held and rocked (me and you "dance" together quite often-sometimes that's the only thing that will calm you down) You are getting used to bath time and are enjoying them more and more(maybe because daddy makes up songs and sings them to you?)  You love to ride in the car (even though we've only been on a few trips) You do NOT like to be changed and will usually kick and scream the entire time. But once we have clothes on you, you are just fine:) You are such a wonderful baby...

...You are growing so much everyday....

..and I wish I could freeze time but I know that there is so much more to look forward to with you! You are the biggest blessing to your daddy and me! We love you! Happy 1 month Lyla Rae!

I don't care

My best friend Lindsey posted this video a few days ago and I am curious if anyone can relate....
I showed it to Jeff last night and we both died laughing...this is totally our relationship!!!

Even after watching it last night, when questioned with a dinner choice tonight his response was I don't care...what do you want...and of course my response was I don't care, it's up to you. LOL! Finally we narrowed it down to two options and flipped for it...Manwich it is...haha!

Tears

Today has been the first day in a week that we have not had company. Needless to say, I got up this morning with a full agenda. I was gonna get some "stuff" done today. Before I go any further, let me mention that I have not checked one thing off of my list. Instead, I have been attending to a furious baby all day. I am sure that anyone who gets within a foot of our door will think that my child is being mistreated, but I assure you, she is not. It has just been one of those days for her and thankfully the Lord has given me an enormous amount of patience today.

Since Lyla has been born, she has had people holding her ALL the time. Who wouldn't want to hold this little bundle of joy?!

However, once everyone has gone, there are points in the day where I HAVE to put her down. Maybe she's just a social butterfly like her mama??! Whatever the case, I feel terrible. I know that you are "supposed" to let them cry it out, but that just tugs on my heartstrings. Any new mommy can relate. But once she is fed, burped, changed, and burped some more, what can you do??  I'm taking suggestions by the way:)

On a positive note, I do feel like we are establishing more of a routine. YAY!!! She usually wakes up around 8 or 9 and we have started having some Jesus time. I am not sure when you are supposed to start reading to your children, but we have started reading the Bible to her. She loves it! (I am also holding her then so who knows...ha!) But she looks around and gets really quiet. I love that precious time with her. I want her to know Jesus and how much he loves her! Usually after that, she will fall asleep, but the second I put her down, the waterworks begin...

By the time Jeff comes home for lunch it is time to feed again and usually after that, she will lay down for a nap...but only if it is in OUR bed and I am snuggling right next to her. Of course, being that snuggly, I usually nap right along with her. :) I don't mind:)

It's almost been a month (can you believe it?!) And I truly fall more in love with her everyday (even when she's crying!)

It Won't Be Like This For Long

It Won't Be Like This For Long
By Darius Rucker

He didn't have to wake up
He'd been up all night
Layin’ there in bed listenin’
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK

It won’t be like this for long
One day we'll look back laughin’
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
‘Cause it won't be like this for long

Last night was one of the harder nights. Lyla was not happy at all (Maybe because her Papa G and Chella left her for the night and she was missing them) We were up and down until almost 4 a.m. trying anything and everything to get her to stop crying. It was one of those nights where Jeff and I had to double team it-

This song often comes to my mind at times like these-it's not the easiest thing to wake up out of a dead sleep and try to calm a screaming child, but when you stop and think about how precious these moments are, it makes things a little better. I know that this won't last forever and one day I will look back and wish I could get this time back. Last night was rough but there was one point when she started to calm down and she just looked at me- You know I melt everytime:) She is such a joy to us and I encourage everyone no matter what stage of life you are in (with or without children) to cherish each second of life and to take the good over the bad...because it won't be like this for long:)

2 years

Yesterday marked 2 wonderful years of being married to the most amazing man in the world.

I had full intentions on writing yesterday, but boy oh boy was Lyla Rae in a mood! I would feed her, change her, burp her, hold her, play with her and the SECOND I put her down she would scream her lungs out. There was even one point where she was so furious that a scream couldn't even escape her little mouth! I think that this is partially due to the fact that we have had SO much company since she was born and she has been  held so much of the time that when it is just me and her and life MUST go on, she flips out! So needless to say we didn't get much done yesterday-but we did make it up to Jeff's office to surprise him. (I think the surprise was more intended for me-I needed to get out of the house!)

Anyways, yesterday was our 2 year anniversary! Sometimes I cannot believe that we have been married that long and other days it seems like we have been married forever ( I mean that in a good way:)) The truth is, I love being married. I think it is one of the greatest blessings of all time. And I know that it is because I have found an amazing GODLY husband! I could not imagine my life without Jeff and I look forward to many more anniversaries with him.

While our actual anniversary day was spent at home with Lyla, we did get to celebrate twice this weekend. It started Friday when a church friend of ours offered to watch Lyla for a few hours while we went out. This was my first time to leave her (other than the one time I left her with Jeff for an hour-more on that another time ha!) Jeff and I went to lunch and ran a few errands and then to look for furniture. We decided this year, since we couldn't really go anywhere, that we would make a big purchase for the house-we decided on bedroom furniture! We looked several places in town and finally decided on a set that we LOVED! It should be here in two weeks...I am pumped! It was amazing to be out with Jeff! We talked the entire day and had such a great time! I was so thankful for the few hours away from the house-  I am beginning to feel like myself again! I must admit that there was a moment in Toys R Us (we had to return something) when I heard a baby crying and I teared up missing my sweet girl! That's when it was time to go home!

Saturday, my parents decided to come back out to Mississippi. Sunday was my mom's 50th birthday

(sorry for revealing your age mom!) She said all she wanted was to come out to see us and see her sweet grandbaby. We were so excited to welcome them back. I know it is so hard on both our parents to be so far away from Lyla! Mom all but demanded that we go out for our anniversary that night so she could babysit. We didn't refuse. We decided to spice it up a bit and go to Hattiesburg (which is like an hour away) where the starbucks and target are. We had gotten several gift cards to Target so we took those with us. It was the perfect evening again with my guy! We went to eat at TGIFridays (we don't have one near us, so it was nice to eat somewhere different), shopped at Target, got dessert at Krispy Kreme and Starbucks. I love spending time with Jeff (especially when it involves a starbucks!)

Thanks for babysitting Gammie!

Papa is in love!

After 2 years, I am still so in love with you Jeff. You are an amazing husband and it has been one of the greatest joys of my life seeing you with our daughter. There are so many things I love about you. You are a great spiritual leader for our little family, you make me laugh, you are such a terrific helper around the house, your walk with the Lord is genuine and you encourage me to seek HIM with all my heart! I cannot wait to spend forever with you!!!
